Digital and Spatial Solutions

MEnD utilise cutting edge spatial technology to integrate inspection and progress reporting into managed 3D solutions. By integrating high-precision spatial data, advanced 3D modelling and intelligent digital tools, we deliver a seamless connection between the physical and digital worlds.

Site Visualisation

We use a variety of techniques to visualise sites and assets, from 360 ° degree panoramic imaging and handheld scanning to mobile phone capture and simple SketchUp 3D modelling. These digital assets provide the spatial framework required to centralise and collate information on your assets

Reality Modelling

MEnD performs highresolution reality modelling using photogrammetry and laser scanning. Laser scanning allows us to capture the most precise data possible, even in challenging environments. We collect data via aerial or waterborne drones, handheld cameras, multi-camera rigs and mobile or terrestrial laser scanning. Methodical capture, combined with our experienced field crews, allows us to create visually realistic and survey-grade accurate 3D reality models. Our commitment to transparent and collaborative digital philosophies ensures our clients own the data we capture and the models we create.

Back Modelling

Our drafting team use as-built plans or reality capture data to back-model assets to the desired level of development, as per international BIMForum standards.

BIM models provide discretised component-level modelling, meaning asset hierarchies and individual component condition can be visualised.

We encourage digital engineering work methods to enable collaboration and accessibility of information to the right people at the right time.

Spatial Data Analytics

MEnD partners with global artificial intelligence companies to objectively and accurately detect concrete and steel defects on complex structures. We routinely develop analytics to provide asset insights including:

• Temporal change detection

• Wear analysis

• Deformation quantification

• Crack lengthening

• Spreading corrosion

We maximise the value of surveyed data, utilising a variety of software applications and developing custom tools. All data is presented in a format that you can work with

Solutions Consulting

With extensive experience in the processing of reality data processing and generation of digital assets, MEnD’s specialists are well-placed to offer comprehensive consulting services that result in innovative, targeted software solutions for our clients.

By remaining ‘software-agnostic’ and carefully evaluating the latest technologies, we provide fit-for-purpose options when it comes to the upgrade or transformation of clients’ digital asset management systems.

Factors taken into consideration include budget, scalability, integrability, architecture, functional requirements, data security, vendor support, system maintenance and governance.

Digital Twin Development

All of our technology at MEnD provides the baseline data and information for clients to transition to mature digital twins of their assets. Digital twins have a two-way data flow between the physical and virtual world.

More advanced twins facilitate scenario planning, simulations and predictions for optimised maintenance and performance management regimes, among other use cases. Intelligent digital twins, integrated with enterprise business systems, will become the standard and leading asset management tool of the future.

Laser scanning

Laser scanning allows us to capture the most precise data possible, even in challenging environments. It can then be combined with other data-capture methods to provide the most accurate, reliable, cost-effective and timely solution for your project.

Our field scanning teams are backed by specialist technicians who can efficiently digitise point cloud data, rendering photorealistic 3D models. They are then able to develop customised analysis algorithms to extract even more value from the point clouds.

High-resolution UAV imaging

Using the latest in UAV technology, MEnD is able to perform high-resolution imaging and video inspections. The technical team can also capture data for 3D modelling and undertake thermal imaging for heat monitoring. In both the planning and execution of such processes, the team always keeps the safety of people and property front-of-mind.

We are also able to assist other UAV operators by creating site-specific, aerial-capture flight planning and imaging specifications for any project. MEnD has experience in the provision of survey-grade flight planning for a range of industries, including mining, road and rail, communications, processing facilities, urban landscapes and architecture. Our aim is to ensure that our aerial capture designs balance maximum quality with the utmost efficiency.

Reality modelling

Our 3D reality models provide the experience of a site visit, from any internet-enabled device, at survey-grade accuracy. With cluster computing, we can process large amounts of imagery and scan data efficiently and to the highest quality.

Our various software applications allow us to provide vector (CAD/GIS), mesh and point cloud models in industry-standard file formats. Asset modelling reduces costs, aids maintenance and management, and allows collaboration across your business.

Surveying

MEnD provides end-to-end surveying solutions and adds value to your 2D or 3D survey data. This is done through the qualitative analysis of your asset in a format that you can work with. We are experienced in utilising a vast array of software applications, as well as developing custom tools to maximise the value of surveyed data. By combining machine learning and visual inspection, MEnD is changing the way infrastructure is inspected and managed.
