Project Description
MEnD Consulting was engaged by RCR Resources Pty Ltd (RCR) to conduct weld inspections and NDT on the main girders for bridges 1010 and 1054 located on Stock road in Bibra Lake, WA. The works were completed concurrently with the blast and paint refurbishments.

The scope of work included:
- 100% visual inspection recording the actual position and minimum thickness of the welds
- 100% Ultrasonic Testing (UT) of the welds in accordance with AS 2207
Each bridge consisted of seven steel beams and a total of 28 double V butt welds were inspected. Video records of the inspections were also captured to allow retrospective review of the NDT testing by the asset owner.
Solution Execution
- 100% visual inspection and 100% ultrasonic testing of welds in accordance with AS 2207
- Work completed on short notice and strict deadline to meet with remedial works schedule
- Works completed above active railway and using various access techniques include EWP
